2013 is Made of Bullet Points

  • by

Remember the obligatory 2012 retrospective blog post I wrote last year (i.e., Monday)? Well, here’s its equally obligatory evil twin (sans goatee), the 2013 forecast post, in which I speculate wildly about the projects I hope to get done in the next 12 months.

  • More Karthador – My pulp sci-fi RPG setting isn’t scheduled to hit the shelves for a while yet, which means I’ll be working between now and then on supplemental material. Expect to see adventures and regional sourcebooks shortly after the game’s release. And when you see them, buy them. I’ve two cats and two kids to feed, and they can’t all eat kibble.

  • Mind Strike – This tabletop RPG of near-future psychics and conspiracies started out as a project for National Game Design Month, but has taken on a life of its own. I’m a good chunk of the way into the full manuscript. Once I’ve surgically removed the most horrific pockets of suckitude from the draft, I plan to get it out to a few brave souls for playtesting. (If you’d like to be one of those souls, drop me a line and I’ll hook you up.)

  • Rusty Gulch – I did mention that I write comics, right? You’ll be seeing a lot more of that sort of thing from me in 2013, when I unleash Rusty Gulch, my all-ages post-apocalyptic Western webcomic. Think “cowboys and robots” and you’ve got the idea. Watch this space for details as we get closer to the release.

  • One Game a Month – As I previously blogged, I’m trying to complete one (small, simple, prototypical, probably terrible) video game a month this year. Why do this to myself? Because I’m insane. Also, for the reasons I previously mentioned.

  • Your Next Project – You’ve got a video game or a tabletop game in need of some high-octane story juice. I’ve got a story juicer sitting on my desk, happily brewing up gallons of the stuff. Send me an e-mail and let’s make something awesome.

Okay, that last one was a bit shameless. But melding games and stories is something I love, and something I love to do for others in exchange for money. (Or kibble. I can’t feed it to the kids, but at least the cats will be happy.)

Here’s looking forward to a new year of exciting projects. Look out, 2013! I’ve got a story-juicer!
